About Misericordia University

Misericordia University is a four-year, Catholic, co-educational liberal arts university locatedin Dallas, which is a borough in Luzerne County, in the US state of Pennsylvania, with a relatively small population of over 2500 inhabitants, as estimated during the 2000 census.

The university was established in 1924, by the Sisters of Mercy, and achieved university status in August, 2007, prior to that date being known as College Misericordia. It offers its students 32 majors in three Academic Colleges: Arts and Sciences, Health Sciences, and Professional Studies and Social Sciences, including master's degrees in nursing, education, business and organizational management, providing bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees, as well as post-master's and post-bachelor's certificates.

Athletics

Misericordia's athletic teams are known as the Cougars and they compete in NCAA Division III, Middle Atlantic Corporation's Freedom Conference, in various sports for both men and women. Their distinctive colors are blue and yellow.
